Agent37 launches low-cost sandboxes for running AI agents

Agent37, a Y Combinator F26 company, has launched sandboxes for running AI agents that it says cost under 10% of most sandbox providers. Its customers average $0.37 per month per sandbox, and its free plan has drawn most of its new signups.

Agent37 says its customers average $0.37 per month per sandbox, and that its infrastructure cost for free sandboxes averages $0.05 to $0.10 per user per month. Most of the company's new signups use the free plan to host personal agents such as Hermes, OpenClaw and Claude Code on its cloud. The founder, Vishnu, says the company began as a wrapper around OpenClaw in February and added more agent harnesses over time.

The founder attributes the lower cost to three choices. Agent harnesses use CPU in bursts and need RAM for browser and computer-use tasks, so the company packs more RAM into each host and manages utilization. It rents hosts from vendors such as Hetzner and OVH rather than hyperscalers, and it uses gVisor so sandboxes share host memory instead of reserving a full VM each. GVisor sandboxes do not support Docker-in-Docker or Android emulators, so the company also offers full VM sandboxes, including Docker, at a higher price.

Commenters on the launch thread questioned whether a price-led sandbox business can hold its margins against larger cloud providers. The founder said the company has healthy margins at its current prices and that several other companies in its YC batch offer similar products. Agent37 also publishes an open source gateway API that exposes multiple agent harnesses through a single OpenAI-compatible responses schema.

Why it matters if you build agents

Developers running many long-lived personal or task agents may find sandbox costs well below the rates of most providers, which changes what is practical to keep always on.

Workloads that need Docker-in-Docker or Android emulators should use the full VM option, since the default gVisor sandboxes cannot run them.

Agent37 runs cron jobs through its own API that wakes sandboxes on schedule, so agents that auto-sleep depend on that scheduler rather than a cron process inside the sandbox.
