Autonomous launches Harness, an open-source app for running many coding agents

Autonomous has launched Harness, an open-source desktop app that shows coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Hermes, running on different machines, in one place. It is free on Mac and Linux, and it also has a terminal client and iOS and Android apps for answering agents by voice.

Harness is an open-source tool for managing coding agents. Its native desktop app lets developers view agents running on different machines side by side. The product page names Claude Code, Codex and Hermes as examples and says the tool also works with Cursor, OpenCode and Pi.

According to the maker, each agent runs on its own branch, and agents keep working after the app is closed. Communication is end-to-end encrypted. The tool can also be used from a terminal, and the iOS and Android apps let users reply to agents by voice.

Beyond coding, Harness includes 49 harnesses for CAD, circuits, robots, games and music. The desktop app is free on Mac and Linux. The product was launched on Product Hunt by the team at Autonomous.

Why it matters if you build agents

Developers running several agents can monitor them from one window instead of switching between machines, and agents on separate branches can keep running after the app closes.

Because the project is open source, teams can read the code before depending on it. The supported agent list comes from the maker, so check that your own agents are covered.
