Anthropic's Claude Code v2.1.310 adds the Monitor tool and plugin monitors on Amazon Bedrock, Google Vertex and Foundry. The release also fixes gateway request failures, cleanup and compaction bugs, Windows hook gaps, and several cloud session and admin settings issues.

The Monitor tool and plugin monitors now work on Bedrock, Vertex and Foundry, and also when telemetry or nonessential traffic is turned off. Long foreground sleeps are blocked on those platforms too. Requests that failed behind some gateways and compatible servers rejecting the effort-2025-11-24 beta value or mid-conversation system messages now retry without them.

Background cleanup no longer deletes some recent files, such as pasted images, when cleanupPeriodDays is set to a very large value. Compaction after a Prompt is too long error now keeps less dense text such as base64 or SVG, so the next request is less likely to fail again. On Windows, PreToolUse and PermissionRequest hooks no longer let a tool call through when Git Bash is missing and the hook command is only quoted strings.

Changes for cloud sessions include Enterprise custom roles that control access to cloud sessions and Remote Control, and a confirmation step when turning either on in admin settings. An MCP tool call that times out in a non-interactive session now tells Claude that no answer came and not to repeat the call. On Linux, the sandbox warning now names Ubuntu's AppArmor restriction on user namespaces and how to lift it.

## Why it matters if you build agents

Teams running Claude Code through Bedrock, Vertex or Foundry can now use the Monitor tool there. Agent builders who route traffic through gateways should see fewer hard failures from rejected beta values or system messages.

Windows users whose Git Bash is missing should update, since hooks made of quoted strings could previously pass tool calls through. Agents that hit an unanswered MCP elicitation will now be told not to retry the call, so retry logic may need a review.
