Cline Desktop v0.0.49 adds file diffs, a terminal panel and a Local Models page

Cline Desktop v0.0.49 adds a Changes pane with per-turn diffs, a project files panel, an integrated terminal and a Local Models settings page for Ollama and LM Studio. The release also changes default models for many providers and stops sending native Google Search with Gemini API keys.

The release adds a Changes button in the session header that shows line counts and opens a pane listing changed files with a diff for each, either for the last turn or the whole session. A project files panel beside the conversation shows a file tree with a read-only tabbed viewer, git status letters and File/Diff toggles for files the agent edited, and it works on local and SSH environments. An integrated terminal panel opens at the bottom of the window and is toggled with Ctrl+backtick.

A new Local Models settings page manages Ollama and LM Studio models, including setup guidance and memory use for the loaded model. If the Hub fails to start, the app now shows a startup screen with Retry and Export diagnostics, and opening a task already running in another Cline app attaches to that run. Model requests retry at most 3 times instead of 5.

Gemini API keys no longer send native Google Search, which had caused 429 quota errors on free-tier keys with Gemini 3+ and dropped Cline tools on Gemini 2.x. The model catalog adds the Liquid Inference and Munito AI providers and drops CrofAI, iFlow and Llama. ClinePass now defaults to Kimi K3.1 Pro, and default models change for 56 other providers.

Why it matters if you build agents

Developers building on Cline's desktop app can now review what an agent changed in each turn through the diff pane and file tree instead of checking files by hand. Anyone sending Gemini API keys through the gemini provider should expect no native Google Search in requests from this version. Teams that rely on CrofAI, iFlow or Llama should check their provider settings, since those providers are dropped and default models have changed.
