Cloudflare Agents 0.29.0 adds Computer workspace support and new model routing

Cloudflare released agents@0.29.0 with a minor change letting Agent Skills read and write a @cloudflare/computer Workspace. The patch changes cover browser session handling, chat recovery limits, and model routing through AI Gateway.

The minor change in agents@0.29.0 lets Agent Skills read and write a @cloudflare/computer Workspace, both for projection and for skills.runner(). The release notes point to a guide on upgrading to a Computer workspace.

Several patch changes affect models and browsers. createAI now accepts accountId and apiToken instead of a binding, and it no longer uses AI Gateway's deprecated Universal Endpoint. Browser creates and closes its Browser Run sessions through the binding's typed acquire() and closeSession() methods, falling back to the HTTP API in fully local dev.

Chat recovery now stops retrying a turn after chatRecovery.maxInterruptedAttempts interrupted attempts, which defaults to 5. The maxOomRetries option is deprecated. The release also adds Pi 1.3 support and lets PiHarness submit() and steer() take a custom transcript entry label.

Why it matters if you build agents

Agents that run on Durable Objects can set a cap on interrupted chat recovery attempts, so a turn that runs out of memory every time will stop rather than retry indefinitely. Code that passes maxOomRetries should move to the new setting.

Teams calling models from outside a Worker can now pass an account ID and API token to createAI. Code that depends on the old Universal Endpoint or the binding option should be checked against the models docs.
