Cloudflare has published @cloudflare/shell version 0.5.0 in its agents repository on GitHub, dated 20 October. The release contains one minor change, pull request #2564, submitted by mattzcarey.

That change deprecates @cloudflare/shell in favour of @cloudflare/computer. The release links to a migration guide that explains how to move to the new package.

The release does not describe what either package does, nor does it say when support for @cloudflare/shell will end.

Why it matters if you build agents

Projects that depend on @cloudflare/shell should plan a move to @cloudflare/computer, using the migration guide linked from the release.

New agent code is better written against @cloudflare/computer than against the deprecated package.

The release does not give a removal date, so the timing of any breaking change is unknown.
