Cloudflare released @cloudflare/codemode 0.5.4 on 13 October. The patch changes ToolSetConnector so it passes each AI SDK tool's outputSchema into its connector descriptors. Durable codemode.describe() output now shows the output type instead of unknown, which matches what McpConnector already did.
Input and output schemas that convert asynchronously through jsonSchema(promise) are now awaited instead of being dropped. Output types in both generateTypes and connector descriptors now describe the value a tool returns, rather than the input side of its schema.
Some schema mappings also changed. A .default() field is now treated as required, and a .pipe() field takes the type it pipes into. A .transform() cannot be expressed in JSON Schema, so it appears as unknown rather than its pre-transform type.
Why it matters if you build agents
If your agent reads codemode descriptors or generated types, the output types will now match what tools actually return. Check code that assumed a .default() field was optional, since it is now required.
Fields that use .transform() will show as unknown, so agents relying on those types may need explicit handling.
