DoorDash says it has received only several hundred orders from AI agents

DoorDash CEO Tony Xu said on the third-quarter earnings call that the company has seen 'several hundred' orders from third-party AI agents. Users still mostly place orders through DoorDash's own app.

DoorDash disclosed the figure during its third-quarter earnings call, in response to an analyst's question about agent-based ordering. Xu named Muse, Instinct and Fo among the third-party agents involved. The company said in its 2025 report that it completes an average of 3 million deliveries a day.

Xu said the company wants to learn more about agentic use cases and build working relationships with third-party agent makers. He added that DoorDash could later have a chance to advertise inside those agents.

DoorDash runs its own agents as well, including a text-to-order agent launched in September, a CLI agent introduced in July and Ask DoorDash, a chatbot launched in June that takes orders from prompts and photos. The company has also released an MCP for ordering from other chatbots for corporate purchases.

Why it matters if you build agents

Agent-driven ordering is still a small share of DoorDash's volume, so developers building food or grocery agents should not assume a large existing channel. DoorDash's MCP and CLI offer a direct integration path if you want to test ordering flows now.

Websites are still deciding whether to let agents access their content, and the source notes that Amazon has been blocking personal agents while Walmart has welcomed them.
