The new SnapshotMode type, with the values 'full' and 'filesystem', can be passed to createSnapshot and create_snapshot. In filesystem mode only the disk is persisted, so snapshots are smaller and quicker to take, and sandboxes created from them cold-boot from disk instead of restoring memory. The original sandbox keeps running in either mode.
When no mode is given, the API default of a full memory snapshot applies. The pause() method and the lifecycle onTimeout pause object form accept the same mode setting. The keepMemory option is deprecated, with keepMemory: false equivalent to mode: 'filesystem', but it still works, and passing both options raises an InvalidArgumentError or InvalidArgumentException.
A separate patch change removes some empty-chunk checks from command output handling. According to the changelog, envd never sends empty output chunks, so behavior does not change.
Why it matters if you build agents
Agents that pause or snapshot sandboxes can now choose a smaller, faster filesystem-only snapshot when memory state is not needed, but those sandboxes start fresh from disk rather than resuming in-memory processes.
Code that still uses keepMemory can move to the mode option, since passing both options throws an error.
