Google Cloud says it is making generally available an Anthropic-managed deployment option for Claude models on Google Cloud. The option sits beside the Google-managed option already offered, and Google presents the choice as a way for teams to consolidate AI workloads on Google Cloud.
With the Anthropic-managed option, Anthropic operates the stack as data processor on Google Cloud infrastructure, under Anthropic's terms of service. Claude Platform features such as Claude Managed Agents (beta), skills and code execution are available on day zero, and organizations authenticate with Google Cloud IAM, keep Cloud Audit Logging, and draw spend against existing Google Cloud billing and eligible commitments.
The Google-managed option keeps Google Cloud as data processor under existing customer agreements, with VPC Service Controls, customer-managed encryption keys and data residency in the U.S., EU and APAC. New Claude Platform features arrive there as they are integrated into Google-managed infrastructure. The announcement names Claude Fable 5.1, Sonnet 5.5, Haiku 5.5 and Opus 5.5 as available through either option.
Why it matters if you build agents
Teams with strict governance, compliance or sovereignty requirements will likely need the Google-managed option, while teams that want new Claude features on launch day can look at the Anthropic-managed option. Agent builders should check which features each deployment supports before relying on a beta feature such as Claude Managed Agents, since it may reach one option before the other.
