Google Cloud says it is adding three OpenAI models to Model Garden, its catalog that already includes more than 200 first-party, third-party and open models. GPT-6 Astra is aimed at demanding work in coding, computer use, professional tasks and scientific research. GPT-6.1 Sol offers near-Astra intelligence at lower cost, and GPT-6 Luna targets fast, inexpensive everyday work at scale.
Customers can switch between models for each use case based on performance, latency and cost, Google Cloud says, without separate vendor contracts. Because OpenAI models are transacted through Google Cloud Marketplace, usage appears on one Google Cloud invoice and counts toward Flexible Savings Plans across model providers.
Google Cloud says prompts, context and outputs stay within the customer's data perimeter and are not used to train foundation models. OpenAI models run on dedicated infrastructure, and Zero Data Retention and Confidential Compute are listed as coming soon. The models are rolling out in private preview, with interest collected through a form, and are planned for Gemini for business and Google Antigravity.
Why it matters if you build agents
Agent builders on Google Cloud can route different tasks to different OpenAI models through one platform, one bill and existing commitments. Codex CLI and Desktop workflows can also be connected to the Gemini platform for inference.
Access is limited to private preview for now, and Zero Data Retention and Confidential Compute are not yet available, so check those requirements before sending sensitive data.
