Hermes Agent v0.21.7 is a patch release that rolls up about 204 merged pull requests since v0.21.6. It covers the desktop app on macOS Apple silicon and Windows, the Microsoft Store and MSIX builds, the installer, and Docker and Hermes Cloud. The main change for source installs is that the official repository now updates to the latest tagged vX.Y.Z release instead of every commit on main.
Installs already newer than the latest release stay where they are. To keep following every commit, run hermes update --set-channel main, or pick the Update channel switch under Settings, About, Updates in the desktop app. Reasoning now survives resume, so signed thinking replays after hermes chat --resume, and Bedrock Converse reasoning models are no longer rejected on resumed sessions.
Updates also fail less behind some firewalls, because main installs no longer fetch a release record that regional firewalls could answer with a 403. The stable check uses a GitHub token when one is set, and it reports GitHub rate limits as rate limits.
Why it matters if you build agents
If your agent runs or updates Hermes from a source checkout, it will now stay on tagged releases unless you switch to main, which changes what code you get on each update. Teams running resumed sessions with reasoning models can now resume without losing signed thinking or hitting Bedrock rejections. Forks and mirrors still follow main, so check their update path separately.
