Meta Platforms has acquired Conductor, a startup whose Mac app and cloud service run several coding agents in isolated copies of a codebase. Terms were not disclosed, and Conductor is shutting its products down in stages.

Conductor lets a developer run several coding agents at once, each in its own isolated copy of the codebase, then review and merge the results. It supports Anthropic's Claude Code, OpenAI's Codex and Cursor, and users pay for those agents through their own subscriptions and keys. A hosted version, Conductor Cloud, runs agents in sandboxed virtual machines and can be checked from an iPhone app.

Axios first reported the deal, and people familiar with it told Axios that Meta expects the Conductor team's speed at shipping to help it build its next generation of AI coding tools. Engineers at Meta were already using Conductor before the acquisition, and the startup says more than 100,000 people use it. The deal follows Meta's October model releases, which both pitched coding as a strength.

Conductor has halted new sign-ups and downloads and made paid features free for Pro subscribers. The cloud service goes read-only on Nov. 13 and shuts on Nov. 20, and users can export their data or move workspaces to their own machines before then. The Mac app keeps working until early 2027, when new models and critical bug fixes stop and the app's user data is deleted.

## Why it matters if you build agents

Developers who run Conductor Cloud workspaces need to export data or move them locally before November 20, and the cloud service becomes read-only on November 13. Teams relying on the Mac app should plan for it to stop receiving new models and critical fixes in early 2027. Anyone building multi-agent coding workflows should expect the product's direction to change under Meta.
