Decision-1 from Microsoft is now available on AI Gateway. The model answers typed questions about text, returning probabilities, choices and scores. Vercel gives examples such as classifying support requests, selecting the next step in a workflow, or assessing an AI response against a rubric.
The model can answer yes/no questions, choose among named categories, or score an input against an ordered set of criteria. Several questions can share the same input in one request. Choice and score answers include a probability for each option, so an application can decide when to act or send an uncertain result for review.
Developers can call the model through the AI SDK decision API, the OpenAI-compatible Decisions API, or the TypeSafe-compatible API, using microsoft/microsoft-decision-1 as the model name. Decision calls appear in AI Gateway logs and count toward budgets alongside other model requests.
Why it matters if you build agents
Agent builders can add structured yes/no, category and scoring decisions to a workflow without setting up their own Azure account or deployment. The probability output lets code route low-confidence answers to a person instead of acting on them automatically.
Because decision calls count toward the same budgets as other model requests, teams should check their spending limits once they start using it.
