The v2.2.0 release adds experimental desktop plugins that can be created, installed and shared, and it refreshes the desktop app. Plugins can attach and update keyed session instructions with ctx.session.instructions.entry.put/list/remove, and each change is added as a small update at the next step instead of editing the system prompt. The release also adds configurable prompt cache TTLs per provider and model.
The @opencode/ai root now exports the Promise API, and the Effect API has moved to @opencode/ai/effect. The @opencode/ai/promise entry point has been removed, and the OpenCode GitHub Action is no longer published. TUI plugins must use @opentui/core and @opentui/solid 0.7.0, and plugins that depend on OpenTUI 0.6 fail to install until they upgrade.
Bug fixes include waiting for plugins to finish reloading before each session step and tool call. Throttled requests are now retried instead of being reported as context overflows.
Why it matters if you build agents
Teams that run the OpenCode GitHub Action need to remove it from their workflows, since it is no longer published. Code importing @opencode/ai/promise or the Effect API from the package root will need its import paths updated.
Plugins pinned to OpenTUI 0.6 will not install on this release and need to move to 0.7, which changes how custom renderables set their hooks.
