Pax8 has launched 8os, an operating system that lets IT service provider partners govern AI agents running inside their customers' businesses. A second product, 8bot, gives customer employees a managed AI coworker that partners deploy and supervise through 8os.

Small business software marketplace Pax8 unveiled 8os and 8bot at its Beyond EMEA conference in Copenhagen. Limited early access to both products opens this week, with general availability planned for early next year.

8os is built on the marketplace that more than 47,000 IT providers already use. Partner and client identities carry over, and agents and models from different vendors are managed together, with the partner setting ownership and operating rules for each client. Each customer's memory and context stay separate, and usage and spending are metered per user and per customer, with hard caps that cut off consumption. Partners set their own prices and bill through their existing Pax8 account.

8bot takes on everyday tasks for client employees and returns work that staff can review and refine. Resellers can offer it as a packaged service under 8os governance, and Pax8 says partners can deploy it and start billing within minutes. The launch follows Pax8's SMB AI Pulse surveys, which found that only 23% of small businesses have a documented AI policy.

Developers building agents for IT service providers can expect a governance layer that handles identity, per-customer memory separation, and spending caps across multiple vendors' agents. Pax8 says that layer is still in limited early access, so general availability is not yet open.

Per-user and per-customer metering with hard caps is a concrete control to design around if your agents will run inside client businesses that want to limit spend.
