Perplexity has launched Teammates, always-running agents that can each take a different job inside a workspace. The feature builds on Perplexity Computer and requires the company's $200 per month Max plan.

Perplexity's new Teammates feature lets users assign several agents to separate roles within one workspace. Each Teammate has its own thread and can work on its assigned tasks at the same time as the others. The company says they run around the clock and can draw on existing projects, skills and memory from the Perplexity tools a user already uses.

Teammates build on Perplexity Computer, the company's system that deploys agents on a user's device, and Perplexity says they are meant for ongoing, large-scale work. Progress can be tracked in threads in the Perplexity app, and users can also interact with Teammates in Slack. The Verge compares the feature to OpenAI's Dots and Claude Duet.

The Verge says Perplexity's version costs much more than those rivals, because it requires a subscription to the $200 per month Max plan. Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas wrote on X that he expects every organization to eventually have hundreds of Teammates working for each person.

## Why it matters if you build agents

Developers who want always-on agents for workplace tasks now have a hosted option built on Perplexity's agent system, with Slack as one place to interact with it. The main constraint is price, since access requires the $200 per month Max plan. Teams should check whether that cost fits their workloads before building workflows around Teammates.
