Strix, the open-source AI penetration testing tool, can now use any of the more than 400 models available through Vercel AI Gateway. Usage and cost are tracked across all of those models in the Gateway.

Strix can reach models from Anthropic, OpenAI, Kimi, GLM, Deepseek and others through a single API, with no markup. According to Vercel, this removes the need to sign up separately with each model provider.

Strix is configured through the STRIX_LLM environment variable. The model is set to the standard AI Gateway model ID behind a vercel_ai_gateway/ prefix, and the API key is supplied through LLM_API_KEY. The example in the changelog uses vercel_ai_gateway/zai/glm-5.3.

Vercel says usage and cost are tracked across all models accessed through AI Gateway. A setup guide for Strix on AI Gateway is linked from the changelog.

## Why it matters if you build agents

Developers running Strix can switch between models from many providers without managing a separate account and key for each one.

Model choice is now a single environment variable, so teams can change models without changing their integration code.

Cost reporting for Strix runs goes through one dashboard in AI Gateway, which makes comparing models across providers simpler.
