San Francisco startup Town raised a $108 million Series B round co-led by Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures, giving it a unicorn valuation. The company launched publicly four months ago and says it has reached millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue.

Town, a two-year-old San Francisco company founded by former Plaid CTO Jean-Denis Greze, announced the $108 million Series B on Monday. Forerunner Ventures and Menlo Ventures co-led the round, and Andreessen Horowitz, Serena Ventures and First Round Capital also took part. The company says it has raised at least $160 million to date, including a $55 million Series A announced in June.

Town sells to businesses and gives each employee an AI assistant called a Townie that connects to tools such as email and calendars. Townies can talk to each other and share approved information, and they can now work with customers and other outside parties. Town also introduced a shared workflow that updates every employee's Townie with new business information automatically.

The company said it reached millions of dollars in annual recurring revenue within weeks of its public launch. TechCrunch said it had reached out to Town for comment.

## Why it matters if you build agents

Developers building business-facing assistants now have a well-funded competitor that lets assistants share approved information across employees and work with outside parties. The shared workflow, which pushes one update to many assistants at once, is a pattern to watch as more products compete in this market.
