AI Engineer announces AIE CODE, a single-track invite-only coding agent summit

AI Engineer's AIE CODE is the last flagship event of the year and is a single-track summit limited to the top 1,000 agentic engineers. Seats were still open when the post was written, and organizers expect the event to sell out one to seven days before it takes place.

AIE CODE is meant to be more intimate than AI Engineer's larger conferences, with one track and invitations limited to the top 1,000 agentic engineers. Organizer swyx says the goal is to recap the main themes of 2026 in code and gather industry leaders to preview 2027.

The program is organized around three themes: scaling without slop, which follows last year's call against low-quality output; System One models, presented as an alternative to ever larger swarms of coding agents; and increasingly ambitious rewrites of hard software categories. Jarred Sumner is scheduled to discuss the Bun rewrite in Rust and preview Bun AOT.

Other topics mentioned include Cursor's next phase, Ramp Inspect, and the failure of Gas Town. The post says a couple hundred seats remained, and Latent Space paid subscribers can get a discount on the $400 ticket.

Why it matters if you build agents

For developers building coding agents, the agenda points to a shift toward smaller, more capable systems instead of larger swarms, with more attention to output quality. Anyone planning to attend should register early, since the event usually sells out shortly before it takes place.
