Guidewire announced the acquisition on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The total value could reach around $2 billion, including $400 million in additional capital that is reserved if certain revenue targets are met.
According to PitchBook, Hyperexponential was founded in 2017 and has raised nearly $90 million to date. Andreessen Horowitz and Battery Ventures are among its backers. The company says nearly 600 insurers in 40 countries use its software.
Guidewire says the goal is to have AI agents work alongside humans to underwrite, analyze and price insurance decisions.
Why it matters if you build agents
For developers building agents for insurance, this shows that a large insurance software vendor is buying agentic underwriting capability instead of building it alone. Teams selling underwriting agents into insurers should expect more consolidation around this category. The announcement gives no details on how Hyperexponential's product will change after the deal closes.
