OpenAI has doubled usage limits for several paid tiers. The Pro 100 and Pro 500 plans each receive twice their previous Work and Codex allotment. On Pro 200, OpenAI doubled the lower quota and dropped a planned cut after users objected.
New subscriptions already include the updated quotas, and existing customers get them automatically. OpenAI says a doubled quota does not mean twice as many completed tasks, because consumption varies by model, task type and settings.
The expanded limits for the new Dots also remain in place for now, though Dot usage is tracked separately. OpenAI says it will keep shipping better models and efficiency gains to raise usable capacity, pointing to its recently released 6.1 models Terra and Sol, which it describes as more efficient while matching or beating their predecessors. The change comes as Anthropic prepares for its IPO and both companies compete for business customers.
Why it matters if you build agents
Developers running Codex-based agents on these Pro tiers get more headroom, but a larger quota will not translate into a proportional gain in completed tasks. Measure actual consumption per model and task type rather than assuming a doubled limit doubles throughput. Dot usage is metered separately from the other quotas, so track it on its own.
