Wabi Inc. announced it has raised $55 million. IVP led the seed round, with participation from Amazon Alexa Fund, Andreessen Horowitz and Forerunner, and angel investors including Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff and Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke. The company's service runs on Mac, iOS and Android, and it has not shared user numbers beyond saying early demand is strong.

The interface centers on a group chat with an embedded AI assistant that can suggest nearby restaurants based on details from the conversation. Integrations pull in outside data: a Plaid connection builds personal budgets and flags unused subscriptions, and a Gmail connector sends alerts about important messages. The assistant can also generate simple apps and two-dimensional games inside the chat window.

Wabi plans to use the funds for growth and product development, with a Windows app as a near-term priority. Eugenia Kuyda, who previously founded Replika, leads the company.

Why it matters if you build agents

Developers building consumer agents can look at Wabi's pattern of pulling data from Plaid and Gmail into a shared chat as one model for personal-data agents. The round also suggests investor interest in consumer agent products.

Large platforms could launch similar services, according to the coverage, so builders in this space may need a clear differentiator.
